Chapter 4 - The Golden Elevator

Just as the security guards took their first menacing steps toward Claire, a soft, melodic chime echoed through the vast lobby.

Ting.

The heavy, polished gold doors of the hotel’s private, owner-exclusive elevator slowly slid open.

Instantly, the very atmospheric pressure in the lobby seemed to shift. A woman stepped out, and the ambient murmurs of the wealthy guests died in her wake.

She was in her early sixties, exuding an aura of absolute, terrifying power. She wore a flawlessly tailored, slate-gray suit. Her posture was impeccable, her silver-streaked hair pulled back into a severe, elegant twist.

Marcus, the arrogant manager, instantly turned the color of chalk. His spine snapped perfectly straight.

"Ms. Crawford..." Marcus breathed out, panic lacing his voice.

Eleanor Crawford. She was the billionaire magnate who owned not only the Grand Belmont but dozens of ultra-luxury properties across the globe. She was a legend in the corporate world, known as a ruthless, brilliant operator who could dismantle rival empires without blinking an eye.

But Eleanor did not look at Marcus. She did not acknowledge the groveling manager, nor did she spare a single glance for Richard Sterling.

Her piercing blue eyes were locked entirely on Claire.

Or, more accurately, they were locked onto the heavy, tarnished silver bracelet currently clutched in Claire’s trembling hand.
