Chapter 22 - The Lingering Shadow

For six months, Crawford Global experienced an era of unprecedented, explosive growth under Evangeline’s brilliant leadership.
But true power always attracts scavengers.
It was late on a Friday evening. Evangeline was sitting in her penthouse office, reviewing the acquisition papers for a rival logistics firm, when David rushed into the room.
"We have a severe breach, Evangeline,"
David reported, his posture rigid with tension.
"Financial or physical?"
Evangeline demanded, her eyes instantly hardening into dark, lethal slits.
"Digital, but it traces back to a physical location in Eastern Europe,"
David explained, sliding a secure, encrypted tablet onto her desk.
"The remnants of the syndicate. The ones who originally kidnapped you thirty years ago. They didn't completely dissolve when we killed their strike team in the penthouse."
Evangeline stared at the IP addresses flashing on the screen.
"They are probing our security grid,"
May you like
David warned.
"They are looking for a weakness."
