Chapter 36 - The Heir Arrives
"It is a boy,"
Dr. Evans announced warmly, quickly wrapping the screaming, beautiful infant in a soft blanket.
He placed the baby directly onto Chloe’s chest.
Chloe burst into tears of pure, unadulterated joy. She looked down at the tiny, perfect features of her son. He had a shock of dark hair, just like William, and he was absolutely, flawlessly healthy.
William leaned over the bed, tears shining in his own dark eyes. He placed his massive hand gently over the baby’s tiny back, completely overwhelmed by the profound miracle of the moment.
"He is perfect,"
William choked out, pressing his forehead against Chloe’s.
"We did it, William,"
Chloe sobbed happily, kissing her son's tiny forehead.
"He is safe."
"His name is Arthur,"
William declared softly, looking down at his son.

The baby slowly opened his eyes, blinking up at the bright lights, entirely unaware that he had just inherited one of the largest empires in the world, and that his parents had gone to war to ensure his safety.
