Chapter 32 - The Nursery Preparation

William found Chloe later that afternoon in the newly renovated nursery on the second floor.

The room was bathed in soft, natural light, painted in calming shades of sage green and cream. A massive, beautiful hand-carved wooden crib sat in the center of the room.

Chloe was folding tiny, incredibly soft baby clothes, placing them meticulously into a white dresser.

William leaned against the doorframe, simply watching her for a long moment, his heart swelling with a profound, overwhelming love.

"You shouldn't be on your feet for too long,"

William murmured, walking into the room and wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.

"I am just nesting, William,"

Chloe laughed softly, leaning back against his broad chest.

"The doctor said light activity is good for the baby."

William rested his chin on her shoulder, his hands gently covering hers over her swollen stomach.

"He is going to have a beautiful life,"

William whispered into her ear.

"He is never going to know the coldness of this family. We are breaking the cycle, Chloe. Right here, in this room."

"I know we are,"

Chloe replied, turning her head to kiss his cheek.

"Because he has you for a father."
