Chapter 34 - The Iron Wall

The lawyer looked down at the screen.
It was a still frame from the high-definition security footage. It showed Eleanor, his client, violently yanking the chair out from under a heavily pregnant woman.
"If you file that petition,"
Julian said calmly through the window,
"I will personally hand the full, unedited video to the District Attorney, the state police, and every major news network in the country. Your client will be arrested for aggravated felony assault within the hour."
The lawyer went entirely pale. He looked at the picture, realizing instantly that his client had completely lied to him about her "unfair" treatment.
"Furthermore,"
Julian continued, his voice hardening into absolute steel,
"I will file a countersuit against your firm for frivolous litigation and malicious extortion, and I will bankrupt your practice by Friday."

The lawyer didn't say a single word. He shoved the manila envelope back into his briefcase, handed the tablet back to the guard, and practically sprinted away from the gates, leaving the tabloid photographer hiding in the bushes with absolutely nothing to report.
The iron wall around Chloe and the estate remained completely unbroken.
