Chapter 33 - A Desperate Ploy

Desperation is a dangerous catalyst for the foolish.
Two months into her exile, Eleanor had spent the last of the cash she had pawned from a stolen watch on a cheap, sleazy lawyer who specialized in sensationalist lawsuits.
They drafted a massive, threatening legal petition against William, citing "elder abuse," "unlawful eviction," and "forced emotional distress."
The sleazy lawyer proudly marched up to the front gates of the Sterling estate, accompanied by a seedy tabloid photographer hiding in the bushes, hoping to catch a scandalous confrontation.
The massive wrought-iron gates remained firmly shut.
A sleek, black armored SUV rolled down the driveway, stopping just on the other side of the bars. The tinted window rolled down, revealing Uncle Julian, looking perfectly composed in a sharp suit.
"Mr. Sterling, I have a summons for you—"
The cheap lawyer began, waving a manila envelope.
"I am Julian Sterling, chief legal counsel for the estate,"
Julian interrupted smoothly.

The towering security guard stepped out of the booth, handing a digital tablet through the bars to the lawyer.
