Chapter 40 - The Unbroken Horizon

The stars shone brilliantly over the peaceful coastal estate, completely untouched by the darkness of the past.

Valeria stood by the railing of the deck, holding Daniel's hand. She thought about the terrifying night in the storm, the brutal ropes, and the blinding headlights of a monster trying to destroy her.

But out of that absolute nightmare, she had forged a paradise.

She had a husband who had proven his devotion by literally throwing his life on the line. She had a beautiful, healthy son who would inherit an empire of light. And she had built a sanctuary that was actively saving thousands of women from the very same darkness she had survived.

She looked up at the moon, feeling an absolute, unshakeable sense of victory.

The monsters had been banished to their cages, and the golden prison had been shattered into dust.

"Are you happy, Val?"

Daniel whispered into the quiet night.

"I am more than happy, Daniel,"

Valeria replied, turning to look into his deep, loving eyes.

"I am free."

And as they stood together, looking out at the endless, brilliant horizon stretching infinitely before them, they knew that the storm was permanently over.

For the rest of their lives, they were entirely, beautifully free.
