Chapter 38 - The First Steps

The passage of time in the coastal estate was marked by joyous, beautiful milestones.
It was a bright, warm Saturday afternoon. Valeria and Daniel were sitting on the expansive green lawn overlooking the ocean, a colorful picnic blanket spread out beneath them.
Their son, Leo, was now a bright, energetic toddler with his mother's eyes and his father's thick, dark hair.
He was standing near the edge of the blanket, holding tightly onto a plush teddy bear, his little legs wobbling slightly.
"Come here, little man,"
Daniel called out softly, sitting a few feet away with his arms wide open.
"You can do it, Leo,"
Valeria encouraged him, clapping her hands gently.
Leo looked at his father, let out a delighted, bubbly laugh, and let go of the teddy bear.
He took one wobbly step. Then another. And another.
He practically threw himself the last two feet, landing safely into Daniel’s massive, protective arms.
"I got you! I got you!"
May you like
Daniel cheered, lifting the giggling boy high into the air, spinning him around under the bright, blue sky.
Valeria watched them, tears of pure, overwhelming happiness welling in her eyes. The cycle of pain had been completely, irreversibly shattered. This child would only ever know a world built on profound, unconditional love.
