The calm of a quiet Tuesday afternoon was shattered by a sudden, sharp intake of breath.
Valeria had been standing in the nursery, folding tiny, soft blankets, when a massive wave of pain radiated through her lower back and abdomen.
"Daniel!"
Valeria called out, gripping the edge of the wooden crib as her water broke.
Daniel sprinted up the stairs, his heart leaping into his throat. He had prepared for this moment meticulously.

Daniel said instantly, wrapping his strong arm around her waist and supporting her weight.
"It's time. The contractions are close,"
Valeria gasped, biting her lip to ride out the intense wave of pain.
They made it to the armored SUV in less than two minutes. Daniel drove to the private maternity hospital with focused, rapid precision. There was no storm tonight, no dark industrial road, and no monster waiting in the shadows.
There was only a clear, bright path toward the future.
The medical team was waiting for them at the private entrance, rushing Valeria directly into the delivery suite.
