Chapter 24 - Purging the Estate

The board capitulated without a single dissenting vote. Fear of Daniel's absolute, ruthless conviction completely overpowered their loyalty to the matriarch.

That evening, Daniel drove to the Sterling family estate.

The grand, sprawling mansion looked like a haunted mausoleum. The staff stood in the grand foyer, whispering nervously among themselves as Daniel walked through the heavy front doors.

"Mr. Daniel,"

The head butler greeted him, his voice trembling.

"We were so horrified by the news."

"Who was on shift three days ago?"

Daniel demanded coldly.

"Who tampered with my wife's vehicle before she left this house?"

The staff exchanged terrified, panicked glances.

"My mother did not unhook the alternator herself,"

Daniel stated, his eyes narrowing into lethal slits.

"Someone in this house was paid to sabotage her car. Speak now, or I will hand the entire staff roster over to the police detectives for criminal interrogation."

A young mechanic from the estate's private garage stepped forward, visibly shaking, tears welling in his eyes.

"She threatened to deport my family, sir,"

The young man sobbed, falling to his knees on the marble floor.

"She said if I didn't disable the engine, she would destroy us."

Daniel looked down at the weeping man. He felt no pity, only a cold, clinical disgust for the empire of fear his mother had built.

"Call the police,"

Daniel instructed the butler without breaking eye contact with the mechanic.

"Tell them we have a full confession regarding premeditated sabotage."
