Chapter 26 - The Ultimate Disinheritance

"You tried to murder my family,"
Daniel stated, completely unfazed by her pathetic screaming.
"You are nothing to me. I am here to deliver a document."
Daniel slid a thick, heavily notarized legal folder through the narrow metal slot beneath the glass.
"What is this?"
Teresa demanded, her hands shaking as she pulled the folder through.
"It is an irrevocable surrender of all your remaining physical assets, properties, and trusts,"
Daniel explained smoothly.
"If you sign it, I will instruct the corporate lawyers to stay out of the criminal trial, leaving you to the public defenders. If you refuse to sign it, I will personally fund the district attorney's prosecution, and I will ensure they seek the maximum penalty of life in prison without parole."
Teresa stared at the document, the horrific reality of her absolute, irreversible defeat finally crushing the air from her lungs.
"You are a traitor,"
Teresa hissed, tears of pure, humiliated rage streaming down her face.
"I am a father,"
Daniel corrected her coldly.
"Sign it, or rot in the dark."

With a trembling, defeated hand, Teresa grabbed a pen from the guard and scrawled her signature across the documents, effectively erasing herself from the Sterling dynasty forever.
Daniel took the papers back, hung up the phone, and walked away without a single backward glance.
