Chapter 18 - The True Enemy

Valeria instinctively tightened her arms around her belly, pressing herself deeper into Daniel’s embrace as fresh tears streamed down her face.
Daniel looked at his mother as if she were a terrifying, alien monster wearing human skin. For his entire life, he had believed she was merely a strict, traditional woman protecting the family’s legacy.
He never, in his wildest nightmares, imagined she was capable of orchestrating the brutal, calculated murder of his wife and unborn son simply because Valeria lacked a prominent surname.
