Chapter 27 - A New Fortress

Two weeks later, Daniel and Valeria permanently moved out of the temporary penthouse.

Daniel had purchased a sprawling, beautiful, ultra-secure modern estate on the coast, far away from the toxic, suffocating memories of the Sterling mansion.

The house featured massive, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean, bathing the entire residence in bright, warm, healing sunlight.

Valeria sat on the plush white sofa in the living room, reading a book, her pregnant belly resting comfortably on her lap.

"How are the new security systems?"

Valeria asked as Daniel walked into the room, tossing his keys onto the kitchen island.

"Impenetrable,"

Daniel smiled, walking over and kissing her forehead gently.

"We have a gated perimeter, biometric locks on all the doors, and a private security team that reports directly to me. No one can ever get close to you without my permission."

Valeria looked up at him, her eyes shining with profound, deep gratitude.

"You don't have to be on high alert forever, Daniel,"

Valeria whispered softly, taking his hand.

"I will be on high alert for as long as it takes to ensure you never feel fear again,"

Daniel replied fiercely, kneeling beside the sofa and resting his hand against her stomach.
