Chapter 54 - The Arrest

The silence in the Javits Center auditorium was profound and absolute, followed by an explosive, deafening roar of journalistic chaos. Hundreds of reporters scrambled over the seats, their cameras flashing violently, trying to capture the exact moment a multi-billion-dollar tech empire publicly disintegrated.
Silas Sterling backed away from Emma, his minimalist facade completely shattering. He looked like a cornered, terrified child. He fumbled with his headset, looking desperately toward the wings of the stage for his security detail.
"You hacked my servers!" Silas screamed, entirely losing his composure in front of the global broadcast. "That is corporate espionage! You belong in federal prison, you pathetic maid!"
"Your father said the exact same thing to me ten years ago," Emma replied coldly, her eyes completely devoid of mercy. "And he died in a concrete cell. It seems arrogance is a genetic disease."
Suddenly, the heavy doors at the back of the auditorium burst open.
A dozen federal agents from the FBI’s financial crimes division, flanked by officers from the Department of Labor, marched purposefully down the center aisle. They didn't pause for the cameras. They walked straight up the stairs onto the main stage.
The lead agent flashed a federal warrant. "Silas Sterling. You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, massive violations of federal labor laws, and corporate sabotage. Place your hands behind your back."
Silas stared at the agents in absolute disbelief. He looked at Emma, pure, unadulterated hatred burning in his eyes, but he had absolutely no power left. The federal agents roughly secured his wrists in steel handcuffs and marched him off the stage, exactly as they had done to his father a decade prior.
The crowd watched in stunned silence as the tech billionaire was dragged away in complete disgrace.
Emma stood alone in the center of the stage, the chaotic flashing of the press cameras illuminating her fierce, unyielding posture. She didn't gloat. She didn't smile. She turned to the audience, grabbing the microphone one last time.

"The human soul is not a flaw," Emma stated, her voice echoing with profound, beautiful resonance. "It is the entire foundation of our industry. If you attempt to replace empathy with an algorithm, you will always fail. The Grand Lawson remains open. And we will see you at the front desk."
She dropped the microphone and walked off the stage, leaving an absolute, undeniable legacy in her wake.
