Chapter 47 - The Deepfake

Emma grabbed the remote and turned on the massive flat-screen television in her office, tuning into a premier global financial news network.

The anchor looked incredibly grim. "We have breaking, highly disturbing audio supposedly leaked from an internal executive meeting at the Grand Lawson, casting a dark shadow over CEO Emma Carter’s famous ethical reputation."

The screen transitioned to a static image of Emma, while a pristine, high-definition audio clip played.

"The Lawson Foundation is just a tax write-off," a voice that sounded exactly, perfectly like Emma sneered through the speakers. "You think I actually care about these maids and dishwashers? They are completely expendable peasants. If Silas Sterling wants a price war, I will fire half the staff tomorrow and make the remaining idiots work double shifts for minimum wage. They should be grateful I even allow them in my building."

The audio clip ended.

Emma stared at the television in absolute, stunned silence. The voice cadence, the pitch, the slight New York inflection—it was a flawless, terrifyingly perfect replication of her own voice.

"It’s a deepfake," Daniel said instantly, recognizing the terrifying power of Silas’s artificial intelligence technology. "He fed hours of your public speeches and interviews into an advanced voice-cloning algorithm. He entirely synthesized that audio."

"We know it’s a fake, Emma," Sarah said, tears springing to her eyes. "But the world doesn't. And more importantly, the staff doesn't."

The phone lines in the executive suite began lighting up like a Christmas tree. Board members were panicking, major investors were demanding immediate emergency meetings, and the PR department was entirely overwhelmed.

But the most devastating blow came from within the building.

"The union representatives just called," Sarah whispered, looking at her ringing cell phone. "The staff heard the audio. They are devastated, Emma. They think everything you’ve built over the last ten years was a lie. They are organizing a massive, immediate walkout. If they leave, the hotel completely ceases to function within the hour."

Silas and Julian had executed a perfect, lethal strike. They hadn't just attacked the hotel’s finances; they had shattered the absolute trust that was the bedrock of Emma’s empire.
