Chapter 50 - The Digital Hunt
With the massive staff walkout completely averted and the internal loyalty of the Grand Lawson forged into an unbreakable steel, Emma pivoted entirely to the offensive. The defense of her character was secure; now, it was time to absolutely destroy the men who had attempted to assassinate it.
Daniel had transformed the executive conference room into a high-tech cybersecurity command center. He hired three of the top independent digital forensic firms in the country, bypassing corporate PR entirely to hunt for the absolute truth.
"Silas Sterling is incredibly arrogant, but his tech is nearly flawless," Daniel explained, pointing to complex data streams on the massive monitors. "The deepfake audio was routed through dozens of encrypted offshore proxy servers. Tracing the origin of the file back to Silas’s IP address is legally impossible. It’s a digital ghost."
"Silas designed the weapon, but he didn't pull the trigger," Emma said, pacing the length of the room. "He wouldn't risk his own fingerprints on a smear campaign. Julian Vance deployed the bot farm and leaked the audio. Julian is old money; he doesn't understand modern digital encryption. He always leaves a paper trail. We just have to find his shadow."
"Julian is a ghost too," Daniel sighed. "He has no fixed address, no credit cards, and no official bank accounts since his release from federal prison."
Emma stopped pacing, her eyes narrowing as a brilliant, terrifying strategy formed. "If Julian doesn't have an official bank account, how is Silas paying him? You don't execute a massive corporate sabotage campaign for free. Silas has to be funneling untraceable capital to him."
"Cryptocurrency," Daniel realized, his eyes widening.
"Exactly," Emma nodded. "Silas thinks he’s untouchable because crypto is decentralized. But the blockchain is a public ledger. If we can identify Julian’s digital wallet, we can prove that Silas’s personal holding companies transferred massive sums of money to a known felon directly before the smear campaign launched. That’s conspiracy to commit corporate fraud."

"I have our forensic accountants running the algorithms on the blockchain right now," Daniel said, furiously typing on his terminal. "But finding Julian’s wallet out of millions of anonymous strings is like finding a needle in a digital ocean. We need an inside source. We need someone inside Aura."
Emma reached into her pocket, pulling out the photos she had taken during her midnight reconnaissance of Aura’s digital sweatshop. "I know exactly where to find our spy."
