Chapter 52 - The Blockchain Ledger

The tension in the Grand Lawson executive suite was suffocating. Emma, Daniel, and the cybersecurity team stared at a blinking progress bar on the primary monitor. It was 3:15 AM. David, the informant inside Aura’s digital sweatshop, had just initiated the data breach.
"The payload is active," the lead cybersecurity expert announced, his fingers flying across the keyboard to mask the intrusion from Aura’s active firewalls. "The USB drive is successfully tunneling through Silas’s internal intranet. We are accessing the encrypted financial ledgers."
"Silas has to have safeguards," Daniel muttered, nervously pacing the room. "If his AI detects the data extraction, it will instantly quarantine the terminal and lock David inside the sub-basement."
"Hold the line," Emma commanded, her eyes fixed entirely on the screen. She had bet everything on the bravery of a terrified gig worker.
90%... 95%... 100%.
"Download complete!" the expert shouted, instantly severing the connection to completely cover their digital tracks. "The connection is closed. David is safe."
Emma let out a long, shuddering breath of relief. "Decrypt the ledgers. Find the crypto transfers."
For twenty agonizing minutes, the massive supercomputers in the Grand Lawson command center violently chewed through Silas Sterling’s heavy corporate encryption. When the final firewall fell, a massive spreadsheet populated the primary monitor.
"Got it," Daniel breathed, tracing a line of data. "Look at this. A recurring transfer of two hundred thousand dollars in untraceable cryptocurrency, deployed from Silas’s personal holding company every single week for the past two months."
"Trace the destination wallet," Emma ordered.
"The wallet belongs to a shell corporation registered in the Cayman Islands," the expert reported, cross-referencing global databases. "The registered owner of the shell corporation is a man named Arthur Vance. That’s Julian’s deceased father."
Emma smiled, a cold, terrifying expression of absolute victory. Julian had used his dead father’s name to hide the money.
"We have them," Emma said quietly, looking at the undeniable digital proof. "We can legally prove that Silas Sterling financed the deepfake and the corporate sabotage campaign, and we can prove that Julian Vance executed it. It’s federal conspiracy to commit wire fraud and market manipulation."
"I’ll call the FBI right now," Daniel said, reaching for his phone.
"No," Emma stopped him, her voice ringing with absolute authority. "If we hand this to the FBI, Silas will use his massive legal team to bury the investigation in federal court for five years. The public will never know the truth. I want him destroyed publicly. I want him humiliated on the world stage."

"How?" Daniel asked.
"The International Hospitality Expo is next week at the Javits Center," Emma noted, her eyes gleaming with tactical brilliance. "Silas is scheduled to deliver a live, globally broadcast keynote address on the superiority of AI over human labor. I am going to politely ask to share the stage."
