Chapter 46 - The Smear Campaign

The morning after Emma’s covert reconnaissance, she returned to the Grand Lawson completely energized, ready to expose Aura’s horrific labor practices. But before she could mobilize her legal and PR teams, the Grand Lawson was hit with a devastating, coordinated ambush.

It started on social media.

Within a span of four hours, over ten thousand one-star reviews flooded every major travel and hospitality platform on the internet. They were detailed, horrific, and completely fabricated. The reviews claimed the Grand Lawson was infested with bedbugs, that the culinary team was serving expired meat causing mass food poisoning, and that the legendary housekeeping staff was actively stealing from guests.

"It’s a bot farm," Daniel shouted, rushing into the executive suite as the hotel's stock price immediately plummeted on the open market. "Someone unleashed a highly sophisticated, algorithmic smear campaign. The major booking aggregates have automatically suspended our listings due to the sheer volume of negative reports! We are digitally locked out of the global market!"

"It’s Silas," Emma said, her jaw clenched tight.

"It’s too dirty for Silas," Daniel corrected, analyzing the IP routing on his tablet. "This is old-school corporate sabotage utilizing modern tools. Silas is a tech bro; he fights with pricing models. This feels deeply personal. Whoever deployed this bot farm knows exactly which health and safety trigger words automatically initiate algorithm suspensions."

Emma looked out the window. The memories of her first year as General Manager flooded back—the blackout during the gala, the slashed power lines, the pure, vindictive malice.

"Julian," Emma whispered, a chill running down her spine. "Julian Vance is out of prison. Silas must have hired him to do the dirty work in the shadows."

Before Daniel could respond, Sarah burst into the office, her face pale.

"Emma, you need to turn on the news," Sarah said, her voice trembling. "It’s not just fake reviews anymore. They just leaked a video."
