GFI's headquarters in Mexico City was located in a modern building, hidden behind layers of state-of-the-art security designed by Sarah herself. Emily sat at her desk, her eyes skimming across dozens of monitors displaying global financial flows.
This morning, an encrypted file arrived anonymously. The subject line contained only one word: "VerdeCorp".
On paper, VerdeCorp was a multinational ecological conglomerate dedicated to preserving Latin American rainforests and developing green energy. But when Emily ran their financial reports through her custom-written algorithmic analysis system, the red flags began to appear. The numbers were too perfect. The profits aligned down to the very last decimal, a classic sign of cooked books. Something deeply sinister was lurking beneath this verdant facade.
