Chapter 14 - The Unnamed Parcel

Returning to her villa in Coyoacán, Emily felt a cold chill run down her spine. Although the outer gates were still securely locked, a small black gift box was placed neatly on the stone table in the middle of the courtyard.

She carefully put on gloves and opened the box. Inside lay a withered black rose and a candid photograph of Emily drinking coffee with Sarah at the plaza just yesterday. On the back of the photo was a meticulously written message:

May you like

The air in Mexico doesn't suit you, Emily. Stop.

Victor Thorne knew she was tracking him. He wanted to use fear to turn her back into a trembling little bird. But Emily calmly took out her phone, snapped a picture of the photograph, and then tossed the rose into the trash. Fear was no longer her master.
