Chapter 7 - The Shattering of Time

Daniel lowered his head, unable to meet Arthur’s burning, confused gaze.
"Eighteen years ago..." Daniel started, his voice trembling slightly. "Your wife and I... we had an affair."
The silence in the foyer shattered into a million irreparable pieces.
Arthur physically stumbled backward. He took one step. Then another. He bumped into the wooden console table, knocking over a framed photograph of their family vacation. The glass shattered on the floor, unnoticed.
"Eighteen years?" Arthur repeated, his brain short-circuiting.
He looked at his daughter. Eighteen-year-old Chloe.
He looked at his wife, who was sobbing uncontrollably against the wall.
Then he looked back at Daniel.
