Chapter 28 - The Final Decree

The divorce was finalized in a cold, sterile courtroom in early May.
Evelyn sat on the opposite side of the aisle, looking gaunt and severely aged. Without Arthur’s wealth to fund her extravagant lifestyle, the illusion of her superiority had entirely crumbled.
The judge struck his gavel, officially terminating the marriage.
Due to the proven psychological abuse and the undeniable evidence of her fraudulent pregnancy to extort marital assets, the judge had awarded Evelyn the absolute legal minimum. She received no alimony, no claim to the house, and no access to Arthur's primary business accounts.
"Court is adjourned,"
The judge announced.
Evelyn stood up, her hands trembling, and looked desperately across the aisle at Arthur.
"Arthur..."
Evelyn rasped, her voice pathetic and hollow.

Arthur did not even blink. He picked up his briefcase, buttoned his tailored suit jacket, and walked out of the courtroom without sparing her a single, fleeting glance.
He walked out into the bright sunlight, completely, legally, and spiritually free.
