Chapter 27 - The College Tour
Spring arrived, bringing a brilliant burst of life and color to the neighborhood.
It was time for college tours. Arthur and Chloe packed a small overnight bag and drove up the coast to visit three prestigious universities.
They walked across sprawling, ivy-covered campuses, attending seminars and touring ancient, beautiful libraries.
"The architecture here is incredible,"
Chloe noted, looking up at a massive gothic archway at the law school building.
"It looks like something out of a movie,"
Arthur agreed, holding two cups of coffee.
"Are you still thinking about studying literature?"
Chloe paused, watching a group of law students engaged in a passionate debate on the quad.
"Actually, Dad,"
Chloe said, her green eyes shining with a sudden, fierce inspiration.
"I think I want to study family law. I want to help people untangle themselves from toxic situations. I want to give people the tools to escape."
Arthur looked at his daughter, completely overwhelmed by the profound resilience she possessed. She had taken the worst betrayal imaginable and actively chosen to turn it into a weapon to defend others.
