Chapter 12 - The True Father
Arthur’s voice choked completely in his throat. He felt entirely overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of her love.
"Sweetheart..." Arthur managed to rasp out.
"You are my father," Chloe said with absolute, unshakeable finality.
The strong, resilient man finally broke. Arthur began to cry. For the first time in years, he wept openly.
It wasn't because of his blinding anger at his wife’s infidelity. It wasn't out of wounded male pride.
It was pure, devastating pain mixed entirely with the most profound, unconditional love he had ever felt in his life.

Chloe threw her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder.
Arthur wrapped his large arms around her, holding her so tightly it was as if he were terrified she would vanish into thin air. He buried his face in her hair, sobbing as he clung to the only real, true thing left in his shattered universe.
