Chapter 29 - The Speech

"But I learned something crucial in the darkness," Maya continued, the room hanging onto her every word.

"I learned that true power does not come from intimidation, or wealth, or the ability to make others feel small. True power comes from the resilience of the human spirit. It comes from the courage to stand up, even when your knees are shaking, and say: Enough."

She gestured to the women sitting at the front tables.

The standing ovation lasted for five minutes. Maya stood under the spotlight, bathing in the warmth of a community she had built with her own two hands.
