Chapter 27 - A New Rhythm

Life settled into a beautiful, steady rhythm.
Maya continued to see Julian. It was a slow, incredibly respectful relationship. He didn't try to fix her, and he didn't try to control her. He simply walked beside her.
He attended her foundation events, standing quietly in the back, looking at her with absolute admiration. She visited his studio, bringing him coffee while he painted.
One evening, while walking through the park, Julian stopped and took her hands.

Maya looked at him, feeling a deep, profound sense of safety. She leaned in and kissed him, the streetlights casting a warm glow over them. The scars of her past were still there, but they no longer dictated her capacity to love.
