A year passed since that fateful night at The Copper Lantern.
The Aurora Initiative had grown exponentially, helping hundreds of women escape toxic marriages and rebuild their lives. Maya was at the helm of it all, a respected, powerful leader in her own right.
One afternoon, Elena visited Maya’s office. She looked at the bustling staff, the ringing phones, and the atmosphere of hope that permeated the space.
"You built an empire, Maya," Elena said softly, sitting across from her daughter. "An empire of healing."
"I just took the strength you gave me, Mom, and passed it on," Maya smiled.
