Chapter 33 - The Secret of the Watch

Ramón placed the heavy, beautiful timepiece directly onto the wooden podium.
"Your Honor, this watch was given to my grandfather by the state governor ninety years ago,"
Ramón explained, his voice echoing clearly across the silent courtroom.
"It was a gift for his agricultural service during the great famine."
He turned the watch over, revealing the intricate, hand-engraved metal casing on the back.
"Engraved on the back of this watch is the absolute, sovereign coordinate seal of the river valley. The governor decreed that whoever holds this seal holds the unbreakable, irrevocable water rights for all of eternity."

The judge leaned forward, deeply intrigued, and asked the bailiff to bring the watch to her bench.
She examined the engraving with a magnifying glass, cross-referencing it with the original historical archives on her monitor.
