Chapter 27 - The Retaliation
The victory on the mountain was swift, but the retaliation was brutal.
The next morning, the corrupt local sheriff pulled into Ramón’s driveway with three squad cars.
"Ramón Silva, you are under arrest for destruction of private property and inciting a riot,"
The sheriff declared, pulling out a pair of handcuffs.
"That dam was entirely illegal,"
Mateo argued fiercely, stepping between his father and the sheriff.
"Stand down, Mateo,"
Ramón commanded softly, placing a reassuring hand on his son's shoulder.
He looked at the sheriff with a cold, piercing gaze.
"You wear a badge, but you work for a thief,"
