Chapter 24 - Gathering the Harvest

Ramón did not panic. He simply put on his boots and his faded hat.
He drove his old, battered pickup truck to every single farm in the valley. He did not ask them to fight for his land; he asked them to fight for their own survival.
He sat on porches, drank bitter coffee with old friends, and laid out the undeniable proof of the corporate sabotage.
"If they choke my farm today, they will choke yours tomorrow,"
Ramón told a group of local elders sitting outside the feed store.
"What can we do, Ramón? They have the police on their payroll,"
An old farmer sighed, looking at his dry hands.
"They have money,"
