Chapter 26 - The Chains of Justice

The contractors looked at the sheer, overwhelming mass of the farmers and their heavy equipment. They were paid to intimidate, not to face an absolute, unified revolt.
The security guards slowly lowered their weapons and stepped aside.
Mateo and three other young farmers rushed forward, dragging heavy steel tow chains through the mud. They hooked the thick links securely around the massive, illegal concrete blocks obstructing the river.
"Pull!"
Ramón shouted into a two-way radio.
Four massive industrial tractors shifted into gear. The heavy diesel engines roared into the night sky, their massive tires digging deep into the earth.
