Chapter 51 - The Interrogation

Julian was not wearing armor. He wore a crisp dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. He held a customized, suppressed pistol lazily in his right hand.

The four remaining Alpha Team members immediately raised their rifles.

"Drop it!" the squad leader screamed.

Julian didn't blink. He pressed a button on a small remote in his left hand. A localized electromagnetic pulse triggered from the ceiling, instantly short-circuiting the electronic optics and laser sights on the soldiers' weapons.

Before they could adjust their aim, Julian moved. He was a blur of calculated violence. He fired three suppressed shots in less than a second, hitting three soldiers in their kneecaps. They crumpled to the concrete floor, screaming in agony.

The squad leader swung his rifle, but Julian was already inside his guard. Julian grabbed the barrel, twisted it violently upward, and drove his elbow into the man’s throat. The leader dropped his weapon, gasping for air as he collapsed against the wall.

Julian stepped over the groaning men, stopping in front of the squad leader. He aimed the pistol directly at the man's forehead.

"You came into my daughter's house with loaded weapons," Julian said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "I am going to ask you one question. If you lie, you die. If you hesitate, you die."

The squad leader coughed, glaring up at him. "Go to hell."

"Where is Elias?" Julian asked, ignoring the insult.

The leader spat blood onto the floor. "He's in the Chicago Spire. Top floor. You'll never get close."

"Thank you," Julian said. He struck the man across the temple with the butt of his pistol, knocking him unconscious.
