Chapter 4 – Home at Last

Six weeks later...
Morning sunlight poured through the maternity ward.
Daniel stood beside Elena as a tiny cry echoed throughout the room.
Their son had arrived.
Healthy.
Strong.
Seven pounds.
Daniel held the baby against his chest, unable to stop smiling.
"He already saved your life once," Elena whispered.
"I think he'll spend the rest of his life protecting people."
Daniel kissed his son's forehead.
"No."
He looked at Elena.
"We'll protect him."
Outside the hospital, reporters crowded the entrance.
News of the Hayes scandal had spread nationwide.
Marcus had pleaded guilty to attempted murder, conspiracy, fraud, and multiple financial crimes after overwhelming evidence from Daniel's audit and the forensic investigation left him no defense.
Daniel's mother was convicted for her role in the conspiracy and sentenced alongside him.
The Hayes business empire was placed under independent management, and the stolen assets were returned to their rightful owners.
Months later, Daniel permanently resigned from overseas work.
No promotion, no fortune, and no career milestone could ever compare to coming home each evening to Elena and their son.
Sometimes, Daniel would remember the sight of the mahogany coffin beneath the crystal chandelier.
The image still haunted him.
But another memory always replaced it.
A single powerful kick beneath a white funeral cloth.
The tiny movement that refused to let a mother die.

The heartbeat that exposed betrayal.
And the miracle that gave an entire family a second chance.
