Chapter 25 - The Fortress Hardens

Elena returned to the coastal house that evening and relayed the entire conversation to Daniel.
Daniel did not panic. He simply shifted into an absolute, terrifying mode of hyper-vigilance.
"He approached you in public?"
Daniel asked, his voice dropping to a dangerous, freezing whisper.
"He wanted to intimidate me,"
Elena said, pouring a glass of water.
"He failed."
"David!"
Daniel shouted, calling for his head of private security.
The imposing tactical commander entered the living room immediately.
"Sir?"
David responded.
"William Croft just became an active, hostile threat to my family,"

Daniel ordered, his eyes burning with protective fire.
"Double the perimeter guard. Escort Julian to and from school in the armored SUV. And put a twenty-four-hour surveillance tail on William Croft. I want to know every single time he breathes."
