Later that evening, after the crowds had gone and the celebrations had ended, Daniel and Elena returned to their coastal fortress.
They walked out onto the wooden deck, listening to the rhythmic, soothing crash of the ocean waves against the cliffs below.
The stars were beginning to emerge in the dark, vast sky, shining with incredible brilliance.
"We did it,"
Daniel murmured, pulling his wife tightly against his chest.
"We built an empire that actually matters."
