Chapter 24 - The Grand Opening

The day the "New Footprints" project officially cut the ribbon.
The first families moved in.
A woman in a wheelchair, holding a child's hand, cried when she saw the wide hallways and the low-countered kitchen.
"It's like... this place was made just for me," she sobbed.
I smiled.
"This place was made for winners."
The press snapped photos.
The board of directors, the same men who had opposed it, now beamed radiantly for the cameras.
I let them have the glory.
I didn't need the spotlight.
