Chapter 12 - The Dormant Project

Three months later, I began clearing out her personal archives.
Old blueprints.
Yellowed contracts.
And then, I found a navy-blue leather notebook.
It was wedged between tax files from ten years ago.
I turned the pages.
They weren't numbers.

A complex designed for the vulnerable.
Barrier-free apartments, completely wheelchair accessible.
Safe workspaces for survivors of abuse.

She had always thought of those left behind.
I pressed the intercom button.
"Emma, convene the board of directors."
"For what time?"
"Right now."
I closed the notebook.
