That morning, the large vacant lot on the outskirts of the city was bustling.

The press. Investors. City officials.

I wore an ash-gray suit, my wheelchair pushed onto a small wooden platform by Emma.

Julian stood beside me, his eyes gleaming with pride.

I took the microphone.

"Many years ago, my grandmother sketched this place."

I began my speech.

"She believed that no one should be stripped of their right to live with dignity."

I looked down at the journalists whose cameras were clicking incessantly.

"The 'New Footprints' project isn't just bricks and cement."

"It is a rebirth."

"For those who once thought this world had no place left for them."

I gripped the custom-designed silver shovel.

With my own hands, I scooped the first pile of dirt.

The applause was deafening.

The sun was shining brightly that day.
