The winter holidays arrived, blanketing the thirty acres of the Whitmore Foundation in a pristine, glittering layer of white snow. The therapy center was decorated with hundreds of bright, twinkling lights, wreaths, and festive banners. It was the most joyful time of the year, a season dedicated to hope and miracles.
Inside the main administrative building, a large holiday party was in full swing for the staff and the patients' families. Warm apple cider, hot chocolate, and endless trays of cookies filled the tables.
Noah stood by the large bay windows in his office, looking out over the snowy park. The bronze statue of his father was capped with a small crown of snow, looking peaceful and enduring.
Evelyn walked into the office quietly, carrying two mugs of hot chocolate. She handed one to Noah and stood beside him, looking out at the beautiful winter wonderland they had fought so fiercely to protect.
"It’s beautiful, isn't it?" Evelyn murmured softly.
"It really is," Noah agreed, taking a sip of the warm, sweet drink. "I was just thinking about Dad. I think he would have really loved this party. He always loved seeing people happy."
"He would have loved seeing you happy, Noah," Evelyn said, leaning her head against his shoulder. "That was all he ever truly wanted. For you to be safe, and for you to be loved."
Noah smiled, wrapping his arm securely around his mother. The ghosts of Vanessa, Arthur Sterling, and the oppressive stone walls of the old manor were entirely gone, completely washed away by the relentless tide of their dedication and love.
