Chapter 27 - Rosa's Retirement

The morning after the glorious gala, the foundation offices were quiet and peaceful. Noah was sitting at his large, sunlit desk, reviewing the final architectural plans for a new aquatic therapy wing. There was a gentle knock on the heavy wooden door, and Rosa stepped into the room.
The older woman looked tired but incredibly content. She wore her neatly pressed uniform, just as she had for over two decades.
"Good morning, Mr. Noah," Rosa smiled warmly, walking toward his desk.
"Good morning, Rosa. Please, you know you don't have to call me 'Mr. Noah' anymore. Just Noah is fine," he said, setting his pen down and giving her his full attention.
Rosa chuckled, shaking her head affectionately. "Old habits are very hard to break. I came to speak with you about something important."
Noah leaned forward, sensing the gravity in her tone. "Is everything okay? Do you need anything?"
"Everything is perfectly fine," Rosa assured him, resting her hands on the back of a leather chair. "I have worked for your family for twenty-six years. I saw your father grow into a wonderful man, and I have had the immense privilege of watching you become an exceptional leader. But my knees are getting old, and my heart is finally at peace knowing this house is truly safe. I have decided it is time for me to retire."
Noah felt a sudden pang of sadness, but it was quickly replaced by deep gratitude. Rosa had been a constant, protective presence in his life, fiercely loyal to his family through all their darkest moments.
"We are going to miss you terribly, Rosa," Noah said softly. "But you have more than earned your rest. The foundation will provide you with a full, generous pension. You will never have to worry about a single thing."

"You are too kind, Noah," Rosa smiled, a tear slipping down her wrinkled cheek. "Before I leave, I just want to say... your father would be so incredibly proud. You fought the darkness, and you kept your soul clean."
Noah stood up and walked around the desk, pulling the older woman into a tight, grateful hug.
