Chapter 36 - The Return to the Bakery

The following weeks were a whirlwind of spectacular, public justice.

The Harrington Global empire was entirely dismantled by the federal government. The assets were frozen, the corrupt board members were indicted, and Victoria Harrington was denied bail, locked securely in a federal detention center awaiting trial.

But miles away from the chaos of the city, the small bakery was a sanctuary of absolute peace.

Isabella had permanently traded her tailored suits for flour-dusted aprons. She stood behind the wooden counter, meticulously decorating a batch of delicate strawberry tarts, her face glowing with genuine, unburdened happiness.

The bell above the door jingled, and Amelia walked in, carrying a large box of fresh produce from the local farmer's market.

"The strawberries look amazing, Izzy,"

Amelia smiled, setting the box down.

"I am a perfectionist, Amelia. You know this,"

Isabella laughed, wiping her hands on a towel.

The bakery was thriving. Without the looming threat of Victoria’s shell companies, the entire block had flourished. The fear that had once infected the town was gone, replaced by a warm, vibrant sense of community.

Isabella had found a new kind of power—not the power to destroy, but the power to create, to nurture, and to bring joy.
