Chapter 25 - The Counter-Attack

The next morning, Victoria Harrington sat in her sprawling, opulent office at the top of the Harrington Global skyscraper in the city.

She was a terrifying, imposing woman in her seventies, with perfectly styled silver hair and eyes as cold as a frozen lake. She sipped her imported tea, expecting her phone to ring with Isabella’s desperate surrender.

Instead, her private office door was thrown open.

Arthur stumbled into the room, his usually impeccable composure completely shattered. He was sweating profusely, clutching an iPad with trembling hands.

"Madam Harrington,"

Arthur gasped, struggling to catch his breath.

"What is the meaning of this interruption, Arthur?"

Victoria snapped, placing her delicate teacup down with a sharp clink.

"The commercial block where the bakery is located... the assets are gone,"

Arthur stammered, holding the tablet out to her.

"Gone? What do you mean, gone?"

Victoria demanded, snatching the device from his hands.

"They have been legally transferred, heavily encrypted, and locked behind international banking laws. But that isn't the worst part, Madam."

"Speak!"

Victoria roared, slamming her hand on her mahogany desk.

"The primary offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands... they have been frozen. Someone triggered a massive internal audit using your personal, encrypted executive codes."

Victoria stared at the screen, the blood draining entirely from her face. Only one other person on the planet had access to those codes.

"Isabella,"

Victoria whispered, a mix of pure hatred and terrifying realization dawning in her eyes.
