Chapter 33 - The Police Arrive
The heavy double doors of the ballroom were thrown open once again.
This time, it was not an entrance of high society. A dozen federal agents, wearing dark windbreakers with the FBI logo boldly printed in yellow across their backs, marched into the room.
The elite guests parted like the Red Sea, completely terrified of being associated with the raid.
"Victoria Harrington?"
The lead federal agent called out, holding up a thick stack of warrants.
"You are under arrest for severe corporate fraud, grand embezzlement, and racketeering. Step down from the stairs slowly, with your hands visible."
Victoria did not move. She stared straight ahead, completely broken, her grand empire collapsing into dust around her in a matter of seconds.
Two female agents walked up the grand staircase. They did not treat her like royalty. They grabbed her arms roughly, pulling her hands behind her back, and secured the cold, heavy steel handcuffs around her wrists.
