Chapter 31 - The Digital Guillotine

Julian, sweating and pale, took a terrified step back up the stairs.
"Isabella, please, I don't want any part of this,"
Julian stammered, raising his hands in surrender.
"Shut up, Julian!"
Victoria hissed, slapping his arm.
She turned back to Isabella, her eyes filled with venomous hatred.
"You think you can walk in here and intimidate me? I built this empire! I am untouchable!"
Isabella smiled, reaching into the inner pocket of her tailored tuxedo jacket.
She pulled out a small, sleek black flash drive and held it up for the entire ballroom to see.
"This drive contains the unencrypted, unredacted financial ledgers of the Harrington Foundation for the last twenty years,"
Isabella announced to the stunned crowd.
"It details exactly how Victoria Harrington embezzled over four hundred million dollars from her own charity to fund illegal political bribes and offshore tax havens."
A wave of panicked murmurs and frantic whispering erupted among the elite guests. Politicians began backing away toward the exits, desperate to distance themselves from the radioactive scandal.
"That is a lie! It is a forgery!"
Victoria screamed, her face turning a violent shade of crimson.
"The FBI doesn't seem to think so,"
May you like
Isabella replied coldly.
"I forwarded the contents to their white-collar crime division three hours ago. I believe they are pulling up to the hotel right about now."
