Chapter 27 - The Grand Gala's Trap
Victoria Harrington was an apex predator, and when cornered, she lashed out with everything she had.
Desperate to project an image of absolute stability and to legally disinherit Isabella before the SEC investigation became public, Victoria announced a massive, emergency high-society gala for that upcoming Saturday.
"She is naming our cousin, Julian, as the new sole heir,"
Isabella told Amelia, reading the digital invitation she had intercepted on her laptop.
"Julian? The one who spent the last five years in rehab for crashing three of his father's sports cars?"
Amelia asked, handing Isabella a plate of fresh pastries.
"Exactly. He is weak, easily manipulated, and completely terrified of Victoria,"
Isabella noted.
"If he signs the executive transfer documents at the gala, Victoria will secure the legal firewall she needs to protect her personal assets before the authorities close in."
"We have to stop him from signing,"
Amelia stated, her green eyes filled with sudden bravery.
"We are not going to stop him, Amelia,"
