Chapter 23 - The Unseen Strings

The heavy wooden door closed behind Arthur, leaving a suffocating, terrifying silence in the bakery.

Isabella stared at the pristine white envelope resting on the glass counter. It felt like a ticking bomb, radiating the toxic, inescapable influence of Victoria Harrington.

"Is it true, Izzy?"

Amelia asked softly, looking at the legal documents.

"Can she really take the bakery?"

Isabella closed her eyes, a sharp, white-hot anger flaring in her chest.

"Victoria owns a labyrinth of shell companies, Amelia. If Arthur says she holds the commercial mortgages, she holds them,"

Isabella explained, her voice tight with suppressed rage.

"I thought we were free,"

Amelia whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek.

"I thought leaving the money behind meant she couldn't hurt us anymore."

Isabella turned to her sister, reaching out to gently wipe the tear away. She remembered the decades of psychological torture she had endured, the constant manipulation, and the ruthless conditioning meant to turn her into a monster.

"She only has power when people are afraid of her,"

Isabella said fiercely, her green eyes burning with a sudden, lethal determination.

"I am not going back to the cage, Amelia. And I am absolutely not letting her touch your life."

"What are we going to do?"

Amelia asked, her fear slowly being replaced by the unshakeable trust she had in her twin.

"We are going to do exactly what Victoria taught me to do,"

Isabella smiled, a cold, terrifying expression that belonged to the true heiress of the Harrington empire.

"We are going to burn her kingdom to the ground."
