Chapter 26 - The Boardroom Ghost

While Victoria panicked in her glass tower, Isabella was calmly executing the second phase of her strategy.
She sat at a small table in the back of Amelia’s bakery, wearing a simple pair of jeans and a dark turtleneck. She had a secure earpiece in her ear, connected directly to a conference call with the Board of Directors of Harrington Global.
None of the board members knew she was on the line. She had hacked into the secure communications grid perfectly.
"Madam Harrington assures us the offshore accounts are merely undergoing routine maintenance,"
One of the senior board members said over the line, his voice echoing in Isabella's ear.
"The delay in the international transfers is temporary."
Isabella unmuted her microphone.
"They are not undergoing maintenance, gentlemen,"
Isabella’s voice cut through the digital line, smooth, authoritative, and utterly chilling.
A collective gasp echoed across the conference call.
"Isabella? How did you access this frequency?"
Another director stammered.
"The offshore accounts are frozen because I froze them,"
Isabella continued, ignoring his panic.
"Victoria Harrington has been utilizing corporate funds to illegally manipulate commercial real estate in an attempt to blackmail private citizens. I have already forwarded the digital proof to the SEC."
"You are destroying your own legacy, Isabella!"
A loyalist to Victoria yelled.
"My legacy is sitting in a bakery making croissants, gentlemen,"
Isabella replied coldly.

"I strongly suggest you all call your personal lawyers. The ship is sinking, and Victoria has locked the doors."
She severed the connection, pulling the earpiece out with a deep, satisfying exhale.
