Chapter 49 - The Final Address

On her last day before taking maternity leave, Claire stood before the entire staff of the Haven Headquarters.
Hundreds of faces looked up at her—lawyers, therapists, security personnel, and survivors who had transformed their pain into purpose.
"When I first walked through the doors of my own trauma, I thought the darkness would never end,"
Claire spoke softly, yet her voice carried to the very back of the massive atrium.
"I thought I would be defined forever by what was taken from me."
She looked at Maya in the front row, at Marcus standing stoically by the door, and at Elias smiling proudly from the side.
"But you have all proven to me, every single day, that the human spirit is entirely unconquerable,"
Claire continued, tears shining in her eyes.
"We did not just survive the fire. We harnessed it. We built a lighthouse in the absolute darkest corners of the world, and we told the monsters that their time was officially over."
She placed a hand over her pregnant belly.

"Thank you, for giving my child a world where they will only ever know the light."
The headquarters erupted into a thunderous, tearful standing ovation. It was not applause for a CEO; it was applause for a warrior queen who had led them to absolute victory.
