Chapter 36 - The Cold Rejection

Claire did not flinch. She did not raise her voice.
She simply looked at Victor with an expression of such profound, absolute pity that the older man actually recoiled.
"You are threatening me with a ledger that I burned to ashes six months ago, Victor,"
Claire stated calmly.
"And as for your pathetic blackmail attempt regarding my foundation, you are entirely welcome to try."
Victor’s face flushed with violent, humiliated rage.
"I will destroy everything you have built!"
Victor spat.
"You will try,"
Claire corrected him, her eyes turning as cold as glaciers.
"But you will fail, because you are fighting a war with weapons that no longer exist. I seized your remaining offshore accounts an hour ago. You have no leverage, no capital, and no future."
Victor stared at her, completely paralyzed as the terrifying realization of his absolute ruin finally settled over him.
"Marcus,"
Claire called out sharply.
Her massive head of security appeared instantly.
"Escort Mr. Moreau off the premises. If he resists, break his legs,"
May you like
Claire commanded without a shred of hesitation.
Marcus grabbed Victor by the arm with brutal, efficient force, dragging the sputtering, ruined man out of the ballroom and into the dark Parisian night.
