Chapter 32 - The Tech Titan

By noon, the executive boardroom was buzzing with focused, silent energy.

Claire’s top cybersecurity analysts were tracing the intrusion, running complex algorithms across the massive digital screens that lined the walls.

The heavy glass doors swung open, and David, her chief of staff, stepped in.

"Ms. Sterling, Elias Thorne is here for your one o'clock meeting,"

David announced respectfully.

Claire turned away from the screens. Elias Thorne was the brilliant, fiercely ethical billionaire founder of Aegis Global, the world’s leading private cybersecurity and communications firm. He had requested a meeting to discuss a philanthropic partnership with the Haven Foundation.

"Send him in,"

Claire commanded.

Elias walked into the boardroom. He was tall, with piercing gray eyes and a sharp, tailored navy suit that bespoke quiet, understated wealth. He exuded an aura of calm, undeniable competence.

"Ms. Sterling,"

Elias greeted her, his voice deep and measured, completely devoid of the arrogant posturing Claire usually encountered in men of his status.

"Mr. Thorne. Welcome to Sterling Enterprises,"

Claire replied, shaking his hand firmly.

Elias glanced at the massive screens displaying the ongoing cyber-trace.

"It seems I have arrived during a tactical operation,"

Elias observed smoothly, raising an eyebrow.

"A minor pest control issue,"

Claire dismissed it effortlessly.

"Someone is attempting to breach the liquidated assets of my predecessor. They are currently swimming in circles through my decoy servers."

Elias looked at her, his eyes reflecting profound, genuine respect. He had read her file. He knew exactly what she had survived, and he saw the absolute warrior standing before him.

"If you give my Aegis network access for three minutes,"

Elias offered, stepping closer to the table,

"I can bounce their signal back to their primary mainframe, fry their motherboards, and hand you their physical GPS coordinates."

Claire looked at Elias, recognizing a brilliant, ruthless mind that perfectly matched her own.

"You have two minutes, Mr. Thorne,"

Claire smiled.
